Trucking Answers | Be a good neighbor | A Reason we are not on Mars | #70

In a late podcast I discuss  the Convoy that has finally made it to DC.  One of many it seems.  Also, a truck parking ordinance is taken to task in Tifton, GA but not by me.  I am a fan.  The ATA and DOL partner on an apprentice program.  Save us all from that.  A reason we are not on Mars.

Trucking Answers | You get what you accept | A Reason we are not on Mars | #69

In this thrilling episode I discuss a recent article by Grace Dean from Business Insider and a Werner driver bemoaning the fact that he sees his 3 year old child only 3 days a month.  That is a choice my friends.  I looked and there are plenty of local jobs in the Omaha area, maybe even Werner could work you in the office or locally.  The reason someone would be gone and only see their child 3 days a month is because that is their choice.  The DOT put out a paper and one of the recommendations is to end the exemption from the Fair Labor Standards Act that prevents drivers from getting minimum wage and overtime since 1938.  I agree.  Can you imagine how hard the ATA will fight this?  Also, WV will ban any over the air updates to cars unless done at a dealer.  Wow.  What a money grab by the dealers.  A reason we are not on Mars ends the show.

Trucking Answers | Cable Barrier story | A Reason we are not on Mars | #68

I tell the story of the cable barrier that could have been useful and was not yet installed.  I saw an accident happen in front of me and it should not have happened.  Slow down that Volvo!  You can get a 750hp GMC Canyon.  Nice. A Reason we are not on Mars.

Trucking Answers | Why no show? | Canada DPRC | A Reason we are not on Mars | #67

My last show did not go out as planned and I discuss why that might be and how it allowed me to get a little bit more money than I otherwise would have.  Canada is over and we see now that people will do whatever the government tells them to do, no matter what.  A person with a peanut allergy annoys me and American Airlines.  Roadcheck is coming up in May.  Some team driving tips after a big tragedy.  Test drive that used car please.  Some memories from my car selling days.  A Reason we are not on Mars.

Trucking Answers | Why the “Free Market” doesn’t seem to work | A Reason we are not on Mars | #66

I had a conversation the other day with a friend of mine and he was talking about the free market.  He said if people don’t like their jobs they can quit.  I agree.  Also, he said people are lazy and don’t want to work.  Which is it?  If people can quit, they can quit.  Swift has drivers partner with a robot.  The Pacifica plug in hybrid is getting recalled.  Don’t park it inside or near anything and don’t charge it.  Nice.  A Reason we are not on Mars.

Trucking Answers | Random Trucking Thoughts | Automotive | A Reason we are not on Mars | #65

In a mind-blowing episode I discuss the recent events surrounding the Convoy for Freedom 2022 in Canada and the upcoming one in the US.  Also, the Biden administration has an idea for drug users.  Joe Rogan needs to stop apologizing and emojis are in the news.  3 year old cars are surveyed to see which holds up best.  Also, a reason we are not on Mars.

Trucking Answers | Freedom Convoy Updates | A Reason we are not on Mars | #64

I have an update on the Freedom Convoy and what is being said by the government of Canada about it.  Disgusting if you ask me.  Without choice there is no freedom.  You cannot vote rights away.  Where is Anne Murray when you need her?  Central Freight Lines is also up.  We are now seeing the fallout of that as drivers have no truck and no money, at least those that were lease purchasing a truck.  Never do that!  Dodge denies a warranty claim because of a missed oil change.  A journalist doesn’t even know how to charge her Tesla.  A Prius goes for too much considering it has over 200000 miles.  A reason we are not on Mars.

Trucking Answers | Canada Blockade | A Reason we are not on Mars | #63

In a Freedom-Filled episode I discuss the blockade by Canadian Truckers and if that could work here.  I think we need one voice to speak for everyone.  All these disparate groups don’t have power because they are not joined in one place.  I have started the United Federation of Commercial Drivers for just that reason.  One voice, one place.  Until something like that happens in the United States don’t expect any big changes.  Carvana is accused of selling a car with recalls even though those can be fixed at no cost at a dealer.  I think these should be fixed before selling but it is easy to get them fixed and to check them before you buy.  Also, a reason we are not on Mars.

Trucking Answers | Trucking News | Automotive | A Reason we are not on Mars | #62

In an amazing relationship episode I discuss some marriage tips as my anniversary comes around.  Take them or leave them, there they are.  TA Truckstops is going to renovate 100 stores this year.  They need it.  Will there be a California to DC convoy?  There is talk of it.  Joe Biden wants 50% of cars sold new to be fully electric by 2030.  Will that happen?  Also, are streets against those on the lower levels of society?  Another reason we do no live on Mars from North Carolina.

Trucking Answers | Bonus Episode | Does technology allow marginal drivers to hurt the industry?

In this bonus episode I discuss the issue of technology and the changes that the trucking industry has had since starting in 1988.  I think that technology has allowed people who would be marginal at best to enter the industry and bring down the pay and professionalism that we used to have.  It used to be cowboys of the highway now it is idiots of the road.  What do you think?
