In this dazzling episode full of sparkle I discuss the correlation between pay and hiring.  Also, Marten suffers a cyber attack.  Werner Enterprises reports record 3Q numbers, remember this at raise time. Sen Blackburn to exempt heroes.  The Electric Cannonball gets a new record from a Tesla Model S.  Still can’t beat an engine.  GM will install 40000 level 2 chargers near its dealerships.  This is not near enough because that means 35 miles an hour of charging.  Hertz will rent you a Tesla and Uber will let you rent a Hertz Tesla for not bad money.  Also, we end up with yet another reason we are not on Mars.

In an Arbor Day Miracle I talk about the ATA management conference and the fact they were able to afford Bon Jovi.  Remember that when you are waiting 2 days before you get layover.  Is pay the real issue in trucking?  I take a look at that.  The vax mandate may be postponed until after the holidays.  Why should it be if it is so important?  Shouldn’t we do it right away?  Let’s look at that.  System Transport is hauling the nation’s Christmas tree this year.  Sargento Cheese has a driver with 4.25 million safe miles.  Impressive.  The Chevy Silverado may get the 2.7 four cylinder engine as standard and drop the 5.3 from the lineup.  Dodge Ram is recalled if you have the Cummins in it.  Also, a reason we are not on Mars involving a $20 bill and a Circle K gas station.

In this side-splitting episode I discuss the ATA and Chris Spear making up numbers to justify his existence.  Papa Joe may call out the national guard, or will he?  I am back from Paternity leave and ready to go.  Many companies are putting out ads that they will not have a vax mandate so don’t worry if yours does.  United Road has a guarantee but I don’t like it and I say why.  Universal Intermodal fired people for unionizing and they got slapped for it as they should.  The Ford Maverick gets 42 mpg city and that is incredible. Ford makes a reliable hybrid so get one if you want.  Tesla Model X comes with a yoke steering wheel and push button turn signals.  Ugh.  Stop making simple things complicated.  In California we find another reason we are not on Mars.

I am back from Paternity leave and the show rolls on!  Now is the time if you want to make a change to either the industry or just your personal situation.  Take action and get it going!  Would you get fired rather than take a shot?  Curious.  Meera Joshi will likely be the next head of the FMCSA.  JB Hunt posts some numbers and we go over them.  Did you get a raise the same as they did?  I do some fact checking of what drivers are posting.  Some of what we are saying is simply not true.  Tesla Model Y vs Ford Escape Titanium.  Which one really costs less over the long term?  Is Kawasaki really going to make a gas/electric hybrid?  What?  Also, a reason we are not on Mars.

In this Grammy Nominated episode I discuss the advanced tech in trucks and why it is terrible still.  The ATRI wants us to use it and I want it to work.  I talk about a Texas teen who jumped off a truck he was hitching a ride on.  Yes, that happened.  The LA ports are 24/7 now and Papa Joe says you need to step it up!  The fastest police car currently for sale is the Ford Explorer.  Really.  Vietnam is going to start selling cars here.  Also, a reason we are not on Mars.

In a 3 point masterpiece I talk about the driver shortage that does not exist.  I examine a claim from CFI gets their first 5 million mile driver.  Is this possible in 37 years?  Maybe.  The Nevada Trucking Association is doing all it can legally to make sure drivers are paid as little as possible.  They are willing to pay lawyers but not drivers.  I love it.  Does salary pay or hourly pay disincentive drivers from working harder?  I am unsure of that and I look at a company paying a salary based system.  The Tesla semi is delayed yet again, this time until 2023.  An armored Rolls Royce Cullinan may be in your future for a mere $962000.  Toyota outsold GM yet again in the United State and may become the best selling brand at the end of the year.  We will see.  I talk about my trip to GP Transco and an invention that we don’t really need, do we?  I mean, really?  That another reason we are no on Mars.

In another lavish production Trucking Answers Podcast talks about driver facing cameras and the Lytx AI tech coming to trucks.  Do you think a camera can drive as good as a driver? I will be visiting GP Transco on Monday Oct 11!  Be there!  Speeding was the #1 thing people were ticketed for during safe driver week.  Slow down!  I relate a story from work again about construction zones.  The ATA road team captains have some advice for you.  The Ford Bronco is recalled yet again. Please do not buy a first year model car.  Mazda may give us a straight 6 engine!  Finally.  Last ones I had were in a Granada and Fairmount.  Also, a reason we are not on Mars.

In this world record attempt episode I discuss the semi stowaways and a death had finally come about because of it.  DOT Transportation hosted me for a day and I did a live show there with the higher ups of the company.  DOT is a great place to work and it shows in all the things they do to make the life of the driver easier.  If you need a place, DOT could be the place for you.  SCOTUS will NOT review the AB5 ruling.  This is BIG news and could impact many drivers.  The top 5 best selling vehicles in the US so far this year are listed.  I actually list the top 6 to squeeze in the best selling sedan.  Also, a reason we are not on Mars straight from Fresno.

In a literary masterpiece I expound on the fact that people are quick to complain but slow to act as I give 2 examples of drivers who will complain but not do anything.  You get what you tolerate, remember that.  I will be at DOT Transportation Oct 4 for a live show on YouTube at 6pm Central time.  A truck full of starch turns into a fireball as it is hit by a train in Indianapolis. Very dramatic.  They said it had stalled when in fact the trailer legs were stuck at a hump crossing.  Driver fired, I assume.  The Lucid Air hits the roads with a 520 mile range, the longest I have seen for an electric car.  Range isn’t really the issue, charging time is what needs to improve.  Jaguar brings out the new XF and I am disappointed that it is missing what made it unique.  It is just a cookie cutter car now.  We go to Phoenix for a reason we are not on Mars.
